Personalising your studio doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. With only a few minor tweaks, your studio can become a relaxation haven and something out of a Pinterest board.

Here are our top 6 rent friendly ways you can spruce up your studio and turning it into a homely cosy abode.

1. Lighting:

Lighting instantly adds a focal point & atmosphere to any room. A floor lamp will create a wow factor in any room and create a relaxing ambience which is exactly what you will need after a long day of uni work. Lighting doesn’t have to be expensive! Depending on your style, you could put a large floor lamp in the corner of the studio or you could always add some fairy lights to add a little festive sparkle which will create a warm glow in your space.

2. Statement Storage Solutions

Statement baskets is a great way to add a bit of personality to your space while also keeping your items neat and tidy. Baskets can be used for endless items, including linen, towels, hats, scarves and other accessories. You could also customise your plain baskets by adding some pom-poms, adding some statement ribbon or even spray painting them in the colour you desire. The options are endless!

3. Essential Oil Diffuser

An essential oil diffuser disperses essential oils and fills the area with natural fragrance. Diffusers are relaxing and affordable which in turn assists you in unwinding and relaxing after a tough day. Try adding some lavender essential oil to your diffuser for pure relaxation which will be ideal during stressful situations such as exam time or even just to help you drift off to sleep.

4. Greenery

A great way to purify the air in your studio is with a plant or two. Not only do plants make any room look botanical and fresh, it also makes the space feel more homely. If you struggle to keep plants alive, you can always just get a really good fake plant. Most of the time, no one would know!

5. Free standing Mirror

A mirror will help bounce light and make small studios seem larger. Although in a rental you can’t drill on walls, you can always get a statement freestanding mirror which make the room look more open and if you angle your mirrors toward a focal point, this will give the illusion of depth.

6. Décor accessories

Adding a pop of colour in your décor accessories is a great way to spruce up your studio. Adding a few colourful cushions, a knitted throw and some photo frames will make any studio look more homely with an injection of colour. Or, if colour is not your thing, you could always keep the palette neutral or monochrome.

Some of the stores we suggest you visit for decorating your studio are Kmart, Target, IKEA, Outlet stores such as Birkenhead Point, Adairs, Bed Bath & Table & the list continues.
